{"id":116,"date":"2014-02-12T14:06:33","date_gmt":"2014-02-12T22:06:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.zanesphotography.com\/?p=116"},"modified":"2014-02-16T11:19:51","modified_gmt":"2014-02-16T19:19:51","slug":"printing-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.zanesphotography.com\/?p=116","title":{"rendered":"Jobo 1525 B&#038;W Printing Success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m happy to report that as a follow on to the <a title=\"Printing Disaster\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.zanesphotography.com\/?p=104\">Printing Disaster<\/a>, I have a success. \u00a0Those who read my previous post will remember that the first attempt, had some minor imperfections in the lower right-hand corner, the second was the print shown below, and the third was nearly as bad as the second, but without the big stripes.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<strong>First Failed Print<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.zanesphotography.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC1902.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-103 aligncenter\" alt=\"_DSC1902\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.zanesphotography.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC1902.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/a><\/center><br \/>\nThanks to the help of the folks that are part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/2204726459\/\">Traditional FILM Photography<\/a>group on Facebook, I was able to determine what I&#8217;d done wrong. \u00a0One problem I had was that the Ilford Multigrade developer I was using had been open too long. \u00a0Thankfully I had a new bottle. \u00a0The other problem was the brownish staining of the prints. \u00a0This was apparently caused by fixer residue remaining in the drum, I&#8217;m embarrassed to admit, I didn&#8217;t think to wash out the drum after the first and second prints when I tried this the other day. \u00a0Finally I had mixed up 500ml&#8217;s each of developer, stop bath, and fixer, that&#8217;s way too much. \u00a0Tonight I mixed up fresh chemicals, and only made up 100ml&#8217;s of each. \u00a0Though I went with 500ml&#8217;s of water. \u00a0The 100ml amount is still more than the 50ml that Jobo says is needed, but I think it&#8217;s better to have a bit more due to how the 5&#215;7 paper fits in the drums. \u00a0The nice thing is it&#8217;s really fast to get 100ml of solution in or \u00a0out of the drum compared to 500ml. \u00a0For tonights tests, I did a 1 minute 30 second soak with the 500ml of water, prior to doing the actual film processing. \u00a0Once I was done with a sheet of film I rinsed the drum out good.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<strong>Successful Prints<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><center><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.zanesphotography.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC2009.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-115\" alt=\"_DSC2009\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.zanesphotography.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/DSC2009.jpg\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/a><\/center><br \/>\nTonight I did a total of three test prints, and each of the three turned out well from a processing standpoint. \u00a0Please pardon the photo above showing tonights test, the quality isn&#8217;t the best. \u00a0The blotchiness is a combination of water that&#8217;s still on the prints, and the light reflecting on the glossy prints. \u00a0The borders are nice and white, and the development of the prints looks to be pretty even.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now for my thoughts on the process. \u00a0Does it work, most definitely. \u00a0Am I going to use this process again for 5&#215;7 prints?
